With rustic elegance + faded grandeur, a kiln Christmas embraces both the sustainability of nature + the timeless aesthetic of ancient pottery. Think earthy accents + foliage full of traditional Winter scent.

Ideas to make the most of existing décor alongside kiln’s antique homeware centrepieces for a charming, unique + classically decorated home. Deck the halls + get your house ready for hosting with this inspirational guide!

  • CENTREPIECE ANTIQUE VASES

1 of 3
  • Perhaps best suited when your dining table is out of action during those days around Christmas but you still want your dining room/table looking festive + vibing with your quaint vintage or rustic inspired Christmas decor.

Typically larger vase + double handled urn shaped pots work best here as a centrepiece because of their symmetry. Wide + squat proportions help to not dominate the table, especially if you plan to leave them on the table when you’re seated.

  • A statement pot will beautifully offset an arrangement of white mimosa, willow spray, maybe even some dried grasses + pampas for a soft + delicate White Christmas look.

For more of a traditional festive statement, big bunches of fir sprays look incredible as do twisted willow branches. You can go to town as the stronger stems can hold small baubles, bells + bows.

Alternatively go all out + pot with a miniature Christmas tree!

  • TABLESCAPE DISPLAY OF POTS

  • Something more manageable to be left on your dining table before, during + after eating.

A row of smaller pitcher pots works great for this. When setting the table for dining, you may want to reduce the quantity + dot across the table to create interest throughout your tablescape.

  • Choose in either warmer festive red terracotta tones or a more muted white(wash) Christmas theme.

Add height by filling with sprigs of pine, fir, + branches of winter berries.

  • FESTIVE POTS AROUND THE HOME

  • As you retire to the lounge after eating + for the days following, bring your dining table display through to the coffee table.

As standalone pieces, for a particularly festive touch, the antique green glazed pots work wonderfully! Perhaps a glazed beauty is the finishing touch you need to get your guest room ready for hosting.

  • Adore this potted tree idea!! Using a larger antique olive pot instead of a wicker skirt really elevates this Christmas tree! Works great kept simple with just lights to decorate, perfect for a second tree in your home.

  • SERVING BOARDS FOR HOSTING

1 of 3
  • Chances are, your tableware game is on point this time of year. Either beautiful earthenware serving bowls in organic shapes + tones or perhaps ceramic dishes in classic whites. Making food look presentable is half the fun of hosting!

Don’t let your boards let you down! Opt for rustic wooden serving boards, full of quirks + aged character.

  • A plastic chopping board or new orange wood board for your cheeses, crudités + crackers, is not going to do justice alongside your beautiful dishes + tableware.

Adding to the worn age of these vintage board is half the beauty but if you’re worried about them staining, use a sheet of brown baking paper underneath your spread + it won’t take away from the aesthetic.

  • AS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR...

  • KILN PIECES AREN'T JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!

How wonderful does it sound that in the lead up to the festive season, we can wander our homes pinching decorative bits from every tabletop to curate the perfect selection of antique pieces for our festive displays. Pieces that when brought together, make our Christmases at home the cosiest, most personal to us + simply magical.

  • Serving boards when not in use really do add such a charm to your kitchen decor. They help with layering, work great adding height to shelves, hiding unsightly sockets, + some can even be hung from hooks.

Plan ahead a permanent spot for larger olive pots, whereas smaller pots are sure to find a surface in the home to stay through the year. All ready to come together beautifully to double up as festive decor for the season.
